The Mormon concept of hellóa place of eternal sufferingóis reserved only for the very wicked. Righteous members of other faiths, many of whom are honestly seeking God, will by no means be condemned to hell. In fact, Mormons affirm that some of God’s truth can be found in all religions. A 1978 official First-Presidency message states, “The great religious leaders of the world such as Mohammed, Confucius, and the Reformers, as well as philosophers including Socrates, Plato, and others, received a portion of Godís light. Moral truths were given to them by God to enlighten whole nations and to bring a higher level of understanding to individuals.” ()
That having been said, clearly Mormons do believe their message is important! 50,000 volunteer, full-time missionaries wouldn’t give up two years of their lives unless they thought they had something to say…
