God’s Law as I Understand It

by Jerry Wayne Anderson

I know that God’s law is one of sowing and reaping, of cause and effect. It is constant and immutable. The law is not merciful, understanding or compromising and all phenomena are subject to it. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are so erfectly familiar with the law that they personify it. They are the law and, as such, can and do wield the power of the law at their will. Mercy, understanding and judgement is God’s alone. Mortals don’t always know what is good or bad cause nor why it is good or bad cause. That is the reason God has given us standing commandments and a living prophet to enumerate and fine tune the subtle details.

There are many things I know to be good cause. Prayer, study, service, tithing, honesty, compassion, integrity. Making good cause pleases Heavenly Father. I know that one of his favorites is to hear or read our testimony, so the effect, the blessing, that he bestows in return is of the highest.

I trust my Heavenly Father to know, so it is o. K. if I don’t know (yet). I will do what he asks of me because I know the effect is contentment and joy.

In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
