I Believe in God

by Katie Marie Stewart

I believe in God the eternal Father. He is the creator of this Earth. He is our Father, he knows and loves each of us. I know that his plan is to give his children all the blessings that he has. I believe in his Son, Jesus Christ. I believe Christ died for our sins, he died for my sins. I often have pondered about what he went through for me. And it makes me think, I wish that I could take even a little of my own punishment from him, that he would not have to suffer it all. But he had to. It was part of God’s eternal plan for us. I know that the Savior is just that, he is a Savior to our souls. He died on that cross, but just as surely as I know that he died, I know that he lives! Christ was resurrected. He overcame death. And through him, we can also overcome death. I know that death is not the end of God’s plan. He has so much more in store for us! Christ atoned for our sins so that we are able to enjoy those eternal blessings. We can be clean before our Savior because he has made it possible to be forgiven of our sins.

I believe in the Holy Ghost. He is a companion that helps us to see right from wrong. He comforts us, he guides us, he will never lead us astray.

I know that the Bible testifies of Christ. It is his book, a record of his ministry and teachings to his people. I also know that the Book of Mormon is another testimony of his ministry and teachings. He visited the Americas, he taught the people here, and the record they kept is the Book of Mormon.

I know that Joseph Smith, through the power of God was able to translate the Book of Mormon. He was able to receive modern day revelation. He was able to bring Christ’s church back to the earth. God has always led his people by prophets, and I know that Joseph Smith was one of his chosen prophets. I know that Thomas S. Monson leads the church today as God’s prophet.

The concept of a united family that lives and progresses forever is at the core of Latter-day Saint doctrine.

I know that temples are literally the house of the Lord. The work that is done there makes it possible for families to be eternal. I know that when the time comes for me to be married that I don’t want that marriage to end with death, “Til death do us part” Is not good enough for me. I want a marriage that will last eternity. I want my children to always be my children, I want our family to continue on as one throughout this life and the next.

I give you this witness that God lives, Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world, they love you, they are always there for you and they will never forget you or forsake you. I say these things in the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
