We are given the opportunity every week to donate to a humanitarian fund. This money goes to places like Haiti and Japan, when under major crisis such as earthquakes and tsunamis. We also take every opportunity to serve others that are in need of service.
As for crisis that may happen to us, we believe in being as prepared as possible. We try to be as much out of debt as possible as well as having one year's supply of food, water, and other essential supplies in case that we cannot leave our homes or such resources as water, grocery stores are not available to us.
We believe very strongly in counselling. Each of our auxillary's (Young Women's, Priesthood, Bishopric, Relief Society to name a few) have a presiding president followed by at least one counsellor, if not two and a secretary. The leaders of the church in each area make themselves available for counselling about personal problems that each individual may have.
Professional counselors like psychologists are also seen in a positive light. In fact, LDS Family Services makes professional counselors available to members of the Church who need help.

The LDS church is often one of the first responders to crisis. The American Red Cross, for instance, often relies on the church for assistance with emergency supplies and with help locating people in need. Church members are urged to have food storage ready, so in the middle of a crisis they are often able to provide temporary shelter, food, and other assistance to their neighbors. Even when their own supplies are destroyed the church building also provide shelter and supplies to neighbors. Otherwise Mormons are as prone to panic and fear as other people. But are more often prepared and an oft quoted scripture in the church is "if ye are prepared, ye shall not fear"
