I’ve been visiting the mormon church, but my brother committed suicide last May. The members of my ward offered me many kind and supporting words, but obviously the suicide has affected me emotionally. I’ve stopped going to church and miss the wonderful people and feelings there. I feel so alone in this world. What should I do?

Hi Susana. I'm very sorry to hear about your brother. It must be so difficult for you and your family right now. My grandfather also died recently, and it was a challenge for my family. Life is such a fragile thing; it can be taken at any time. It must be especially hard for you, though, because your brother took his own life. May God bless you during these hard times.
I was happy to hear that the members of the Mormon congregation you were visiting offered you kind words of support. When I have challenges in my life, the Church provides two important things. First, it helps me connect with God. When I can feel God's love in my life, life's challenges become easier to bear. Second, the church provides me with a supporting community. Members of the congregation work together as brothers and sisters to help each other through hard times. You said you feel alone in this world; we'd love to welcome you back into our church family. No one should have to feel alone, especially during life's challenges.
When members of the church have challenges in their lives, they sometimes go to talk to the leader of the congregation, called either the Bishop or the Branch President. These wise men can offer good advice and can help us with our challenges. Perhaps you would benefit from a chat with your bishop. Why don't you schedule a visit with him this Sunday? I would really like to see you get the help you so desperately need.
If there's anything more I can do to help, please let me know. May God grant you peace.
