Hi Milagros. I'm happy you're interested in learning more about the LDS ("Mormon") Church. Mormons believe that when Jesus Christ was on the Earth, He established His true Church. After His death, that Church was guided by prophets and apostles, men who had the authority to act in God's name. With the death of the prophets and apostles, that authority was eventually lost. Many good people continued to teach many of the truths that Christ had taught, but they lacked Christ's authority. In time, human ideas began to enter into Chrsitian churches. Many Biblical prophets forsaw this general "apostasy." See, for example, Isaiah 29:10, Amos 8:11-12, Matthew 7:15, Matthew 24:4-12, Matthew 24:24, Matthew 24:9-11, John 16:1-4, 2 Timothy 3:12-13, Acts 20:29-31, 2 Timothy 3:1-7, 2 Timothy 4:3-4, 2 Thessalonians 2:3, 2 Peter 2:1-2, Revelation 2:2, 2 Timothy 1:15, Galatians 1:6, 1 Timothy 1:6-7, Galatians 2:4, 1 Corinthians 1:11-13, 2 Corinthians 11:13-15, 2 Timothy 2:16-18, Titus 1:10-11, 1 John 2:18, and Jude 1:3-4.

First Vision
In 1820, Joseph Smith had a vision of God the Father and Jesus Christ. They instructed him to restore Christ’s ancient church in modern times.
Fortunately, Biblical prophets also forsaw a restauration of the ancient gospel in the last days. See, for example, Isaiah 2:2-3, Isaiah 29:14, Acts 3:20-21, Ephesians 1:10, and Revelations 14:6-7. To restore Christ's ancient gospel, God again called prophets and apostles. The first prophet was named Joseph Smith. In an incredible vision, God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ confirmed to Joseph that the ancient gospel would be restored. Today, this gospel can be found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

If you'd like to know more about the Church, I invite you to speak with some of our missionaries. They can explain the restoration of Christ's ancient gospel in even greater detail. I hope this answer helps!
