I was reading your answer about Mormonism and it stated that God said that having more than one wife was wrong in 1890. Had He said it was okay before that (as it would seem to be the case). Does that make God wrong? Does God make mistakes as we humans do?

Hi friend. Of course Mormons do not believe that God is fallible or that He makes mistakes. The principles God teaches are unchanging. Human beings, however, do change, and God, as a loving Father, adapts Hs eternal principles to the needs of changing human cultures. The Bible offers many examples of this kind of divine adaptation. God gave the Law of Moses to the ancient Israelites; that law was tailor-made for the culture of that time. While His eternal principles did not change, God gave a very different law to the earliest Christians, a law made for their culture.
So it is with polygamy. For reasons we don't fully understand, polygamy was part of God's law during the time of the great patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For a brief time it was also part of God's law among the Mormons. In time, because of changing human cultures and practices-changing human circumstances-God no longer required this very challenging practice. This has been a great blessing for the Mormon people; in 120 years we've gone from being one of the most polygamous groups in America to, perhaps, the single most monogamous American demographic!

God did not say it was wrong in 1890. He said that the church would cease practicing the principle.
Why would God change his mind?
Plural marriage was practiced in times past. Abraham had multiple wives, and he was given great promises by God for his righteousness. Other prophets and leaders in ancient Israel also had multiple wives. This principle was restored as part of the "Restoration of all things".
I believe that God authorized the principle of plural marriage to "Raise up a seed unto him" - establish a significant population of his restored church. This was successful in 1890.
The united states government was preparing to escheat all property from the church because of plural marriage. With the restored principle fulfilled, it purpose successful, and the dissolution of the church imminent, the prophet asked God what to do. His answer was, it was time to cease the practice of plural marriage.
I am just glad I don't have to live it. One woman is enough.

Hy, I'm human like you, I can't say you in what believe, I can't feel like you, but I can say you what I believe, I believe that God have walks that we can walk with faith on him and his son. I hope you pray, and feel his answer.
Sister or brother don't get confussion, relax your mind, and wait the answer.

Hi,
I only write a very short answer and simple. God doesn't have to explain everything He does! He knows everything and we know so little... Life has not always been the same. I mean the way we live today is very different from 50 or 100 years ago.
