For members of the church, Jesus Christ is the divine Son of God, our Savior and Redeemer through whom salvation is made possible. (Reflections of Christ)
Hi friend. It's such a challenge when family members don't accept someone's conversion to another religion. I understand why that would upset them, of course. Their feelings are valid. But in the end parents should continue to love and support their children even when they do things the parents disagree with.
Christianity teaches that we should honor our parents. But in the end, each adult is responsible for his or her own spirituality. Each one of us needs to choose our own way.
If you're not yet an adult, I encourage you to continue to study and to cultivate your Christian faith. Then when you are an adult, you'll be able to choose for yourself.
It might also help if you explained to your parents that your conversion doesn't mean that you're abandoning the many good teachings they have given you. Assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that your parents are Hindu, you might explain to them that many of the true teachings of Hinduism are similar to true teachings found in Christianity. Your Christian faith should add to the truth you have received in other faiths, not take away from it. Perhaps this page could help you learn some of the similarities.
I belong to a Christian Church called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'd like to invite you to learn more about my church! I suggest that you chat with the Mormon missionaries. Most people who are interested in Mormonism learn about our basic beliefs from these missionaries.
