Hey, Anonymous. The modern prophet who spent the longest time as President of the Church was Brigham Young, Sr., who became Acting President of the Church on 27 June 1844, was officially set apart as President of the Church on 27 December 1847, and served until his death on 29 August 1877. He thus served as Acting President of the Church for 1, 278 days and President of the Church 10, 838 days, for a grand total of 12, 116 days.

The prophet who spent the longest time as an Apostle of the Lord was David O. McKay, who was called to the Quorum of the Twelve on 9 April 1906, and served in that quorum and the First Presidency until his death on 18 January 1970, for a grand total of 23,295 days. However, Patriarch Eldred G. Smith—by definition, also a prophet—has served as a General Authority since 10 April 1947—23,601 days as of this writing.

In terms of strict age, the Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley lived longer than any other Apostle in this dispensation, from 23 June 1910–27 January 2008, a total of 35,647 days. Again extending the definition, though, Patriarch Smith was born 9 January 1907 and is still ticking, aged 38,302 days as of this writing.

Hope that helps!
