What should I do? I really want to serve a mission but I don’t have the financial resources to do so. My mom has the money, but she’s not a member and doesn’t understand the importance of serving a mission. My bishop told me that the church could help, but I’d really like to at least contribute some to my mission. I don’t want the church to pay for everything. I’ve tried to find work, but it’s really difficult.
One Response to “How can I pay for part of my mission?”

Hi Ri. I feel privileged to belong to a church that has such wonderful people in it. What a great example you are, brother. Not only are you dedicated to serving a mission despite the lack of support from your family, but you even want to pay for as much of your own mission as possible.
The key in your case is to do everything you can. In God's eyes, the person who sincerely tries but fails to pay for part of their mission is just as noble as the person who succeeds in paying.
Continue to try to find a job, of course. Perhaps your bishop can help you. Some wards even have employment experts to help unemployed members. But, if you're unable to find employment after all you can do, accept the Church's help and have a great mission. In spiritual matters, God cares much more about our efforts than He does about our actual success.

I hope this answer helps. Best of luck to you!
