As a Mormon, there is nothing wrong with admiring Mohamed. In a statement made by the first presidency in 1978, the Church proclaimed: "The great religious leaders of the world such as Mohamed, Confucius, and the Reformers, as well as philosophers including Socrates, Plato, and others, received a portion of God's light. Moral truths were given to them by God to enlighten whole nations and to bring a higher level of understanding to individuals."

Much of what Mohamed taught was true, and as Mormons we should respect and adopt those true teachings. However, it is important to recognize that Mohamed was mistaken on some theological points. Mohamed taught that Jesus Christ was not the divine son of God He claimed to be. This belief is false.

We should simultaneously respect true Muslim teachings and recognize the theological inaccuracy of others. We can respect those of other faiths, but we must not compromise on questions of theological truth. If you have questions about the divinity of Jesus Christ, I invite you to study by reading the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in the New Testament, as well as 3 Nephi 11 in the Book of Mormon. After studying and pondering, ask God to reveal to you the truth of Christ's divinity. He has revealed this fact to me, and it was glorious.
