Why do the members of some Christian religions avoid eating blood sausage but Mormons are okay with it?

Hi friend. The ancient Law of Moses described in the Old Testament prohibited the consumption of blood (Lev. 17:11-13; Deut. 12:23-25). Christ taught that the Law of Moses was fulfilled in Him (Mt. 5:17-18), so most Christian religions today (including the "Mormon Church") no longer follow the Law of Moses. There are a few religions, however, that still follow certain aspects of the old law. That's why a few Christian denominations still prohibit blood sausage, which obviously contains blood. I hope this answer helps.

Also, not all Mormons eat meat products. There are a growing number of Mormons who are adopting a vegetarian lifestyle.

Most Christians eat blood sausage. Most US American Christians (or US Americans period don't eat it). From south America to Europe. Blood based food like Black Pudding (UK), Blutwurst (Ger), Boudin Noir (Fr), Sanguinaccio (Ita) are very common in pretty much the entire Christian world.

Manuel Leal: Thanks for the interesting comment, Anonymous. I must admit that, as an American (independent of religion), the idea of eating blood-based foods is pretty disgusting! It's interesting how culture can inform our preferences so strongly. Anyway, you are right that there's nothing inherent in Christianity that would prohibit eating foods like those.
