Hi Jose. Mormons believe that some years after the death of Christ and His apostles, the ancient Church of Christ departed from Christ's original teachings. Through a miraculous series of theophanies and angelic ministries, this ancient church was restored in our days, in the 19th century. The Church is called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to distinguish it from Christ's original church, the Church of Jesus Christ in former days.

Mormons do believe that Christ will one day return and that there will be an apocalypse. However, no one knows when this day will occur. I don't think it is necessarily imminent. Consequently, I would not describe the Church as characteristically apocalyptic.
