Hi, I’m mormon and my boyfriend too. I’m 20 years old and have been president of the young women for seven months. We have been boyfriend and girlfriend for two years now. We wanted to be sealed in the holy temple, but recently we broke the law of chastity, and now we’re going to be parents. What should we do? Thanks for your help. If it’s necessary for us to distance ourselves from the church, we’ll do it.

Hi friend. I'm very sorry to hear that you and your boyfriend did not wait until marriage before having intimate relations. As I'm sure you know, you have committed a very serious sin, and the repentance process will not be easy. However, if you're persistent and dedicated, you can still be married in the temple one day. I think that would be an excellent goal for the two of you!
You and your boyfriend have sinned, but remember always that your baby is not a sin. All human beings come into the world pure and good. With your help, your child can grow up to be a dedicated, faithful daughter of God worthy of all His blessings.
Here are some steps I recommend following to help you recover from your poor choice.
You should get married as soon as possible. Every child deserves to be raised in a home with a mother and father who are legally married to each other. Marriage in the temple will not be possible right now, so you should be married civilly.

You and your boyfriend should talk with your bishop. An important part of repentance is confession. Your bishop can help you begin the process of full spiritual recovery. Explain to your bishop that you're willing to do whatever it takes to correct your current situation.
Part of the repentance process will include some form of church discipline, possibly even excommunication. However, excommunication doesn't mean you should distance yourself from the church! On the contrary, you should continue to go to church to strengthen yourselves spiritually. If you are excommunicated, you'll be able to be rebaptized eventually, at which time your repentance process will be complete, and you can return to full Church participation. If some form of discipline other than excommunication is chosen, which is entirely possible, spiritual recovery will be easier.
After finishing the repentance process, you and your new husband can prepare for a temple sealing! The preparation may take as long as a year, but it will be well worth it.
I wish you the best! Even though your sins are like scarlet, they can be made as white as snow (Isaiah 1:18). That's the power of Christ's atonement. Good luck.

I recommend to you the book written by a former church president Spencer W. Kimball. It is called The Miracle of Forgiveness. It was written exactly with your circumstances in mind. Pres Kimball was inspried of the Lord to write this book as a means of encouraging members not to fall away because they thought their sins were so bad or "unforgiving" that no matter what they did to resolve the situation nothing ever worked. Even Alma who hurt many church members in the ancient americas was able to get a full and complete forgivness from the Lord after many trials and deep personal suffering for his sins. Read Alma ch36 v 1 to 24.

Great question and a tough circumstance to be in. The best thing to do at this point is to consult your parents and priesthood leaders. They have the ability to help get the two of you on the right track. Don't hestitate, set an appointment today. Life is so much better when those burdens are lifted and the Lord shows you the way back through his inspired servants. Good luck!
