How wonderful that you are thinking about serving a mission! I grew so much during the two years I served in Brazil. My missionary service was one of the greatest blessings of my life. It was very hard, but it was so fulfilling to help people strengthen their relationship with Christ.
Missions cost about $400 a month. Women missionaries (sisters) serve for 18 months, so you'll need about $7,200 total.
It's ideal for missionaries to raise their own money through work and family donations. If you're unable to raise all the needed money, though, don't let that stop you! Talk with your bishop. Often there are others in the Church who can make donations in support of your missionary efforts, if it's financially beyond what you can manage on your own. Good luck!
