Hi. I’ve been a member since 2002. I’m working hard to be sealed in the temple with my husband and children, but I’m not sure what to make of my bishop. He seems to avoid the topic of the temple when I bring it up, even though I’ve done the things he’s recommended. I’ve been thinking about talking with the stake president, but I’m not sure. I’ve also thought about going to another ward. What should I do? I don’t want to give up.

Hi friend. I'm very happy to hear that you're preparing yourself to be sealed in the temple! Sealing is a great blessing. I'm grateful that I'll be with my wife forever because we've been sealed in the temple, and I'm happy to hear that you're working towards that same blessing.

Without knowing the details of your situation, it's impossible for me to understand what your bishop is thinking. I recommend that you speak with him very directly. Tell him you want a temple recommend and ask him what needs to be done for you to obtain that recommend. Ask him to estimate how long it will take for you to be prepared for temple worship.

I don't know your story, but in some cases people need to wait one year to be sealed in the temple, even if they are otherwise prepared. Hopefully your bishop will be able to explain things better when you ask him a second time. Don't give up! The sweetest things in life are the things we have to work hard to obtain. Don't worry; you'll eventually receive the blessings of a temple sealing if you're persistent and dedicated. May God bless you.
