A little help please! I have a Mormon friend. I’m not Mormon. I feel like we’re in love, but I noticed that he’s worried because I’m not part of your community. It’s a little bit difficult. I’ve recently come to understand how important marriages are in your beliefs. Every day I’m learning a little bit more. Ever since I met him, something has changed in me. In time I see my life transforming into something new. He’s like an angel to me. What should I do? Should we break up to avoid problems? Not only am I not Mormon, I’m not even that religious. Or, should I let myself learn a little bit more about his marvelous and magic Mormon world? Perhaps in time I could learn to understand and love the things he holds so dear. Can you offer me any advice? Thanks.

A young African American man describes the process of his conversion.
Hi friend. I love your phrase "the marvelous and magic Mormon world." Thanks for making me smile.

I suggest you take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the "Mormon Church." It's very common for people to first learn about our church through loved ones. I've heard many stories similar to yours!

To be clear, it would be a mistake to become a Mormon just to make your boyfriend happy. If you do choose to join the church, you need to have a sincere conversion. The Spirit of God needs to touch your heart. But having your boyfriend's support will certainly be helpful.

I hope you choose to learn more. I love being a Mormon because the teachings in this church help me better feel Christ's influence in my life. May you receive the same blessing in this wonderful religion.
