Good afternoon. Is it true that alcohol is prohibited in the Mormon church? Regardless, I don’t drink alcohol. I stopped drinking five months ago. This Sunday I visited one of your churches near my house, and two missionaries visited me today. I want to find in the church the spiritual peace that’s been lacking in my life all these years. I want to have new friends, and to feel like I’m part of the church family. I want a community that makes me feel like a valuable and important child of God.

This last Friday I ended my relationship with a member of your church named Yanni. Things just didn’t work out. We live far from each other, and her studies and our work made it impossible. She did teach me some about your church, however. I ask God to help me overcome the pain of the breakup and to help me find a companion I can love. Frankly, these days I need a lot of motivation. Can you give me any advice?

Missionaries: An Introduction.
Hi friend. It's wonderful that you're looking to improve your spiritual life. I've been a member of this church for many years, and it's been a great blessing. Life can become superficial so easily if we let it. Religion helps focus us. It helps us concentrate on the things that are most important, including our sacred relationship with God. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has helped millions of people connect with God in this way. I'm certain Christ's gospel can help you as well.

It's true the Mormons don't drink alcohol. We believe that addictions can make it more difficult to feel God's influence in our lives. It's excellent that you chose on your own to abandon alcohol a few months ago.

I'm sorry things didn't work out with you and your girlfriend. This disappointment aside, I hope you realize what an exciting time this is in your life. You are just now beginning to discover a new spiritual path that can change you for the better. I hope you continue to chat with the missionaries and visit the church regularly. I'll pray for you during this important time in your life. Let me know if you have any additional questions. I'm happy to help.
