Good afternoon. I’m very interested in the idea of joining the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints! I’m 27 years old. Can I still serve a mission? Because I’ve read that young men can only serve missions between 19 and 25 years old. Thanks for your help.

Hi friend. I'm very happy that you're interested in joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! I love being a member of this church because of the peace that the teachings of Jesus Christ have brought in to my life. That peace has helped me personally to get through some very hard times. I hope you continue to be interested in this wonderful religion!

It's true that men usually serve their missions between 19 and 25 years old. You may have passed the age for full-time missionary service, but know that the Lord still needs you! Talk to the bishop of your local Mormon congregation about ways you can help. The Internet also provides a lot of missionary opportunities. For example, you could answer the questions people post about Mormons on this website.

While it is true that you cannot serve a full-time prosyletizing mission, there may still be ways you can serve online. These opportunities can be found at http://www.lds.org/topics/service?lang=eng. As well, when you are older you can choose to serve a full-time mission with your spouse as a senior missionary couple.
