I feel really bad. I have a Mormon boy friend, but I don’t want to get married because of how he feels about our religious differences. The problem is, I really love him. I don’t know what to do. When you love someone, shouldn’t religion not make any difference?

Hi friend. It is a major mistake to suppose that love makes religious differences unimportant. The truth is, studies have shown that marriages between Mormons and those of other faiths have some of the highest incidences of divorce, but marriages between two practicing Mormons have some of the lowest divorce rates. Religious unity is important in a marriage.

Of course you should never join a church just to please another person, but given the many benefits that come from religious unity, I encourage you to learn more about your boyfriend's Mormon faith. Who knows if God won't touch your heart. Best of luck.
