In Hebrews 9:28, it says, “So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” I personally do not believe Christ has come for the second time yet. If he had, he would have “saved those eagerly waiting”; however you suggest he appeared to John Joseph in 1820. How is this possible?

For members of the church, Jesus Christ is the divine Son of God, our Savior and Redeemer through whom salvation is made possible. (Reflections of Christ)
Thanks for your question.

I assume when you say he appeared to John Joseph, you meant Joseph Smith. He did appear to the Prophet Joseph in 1820 and has appeared since then as well. However, we don't believe references in the New Testament to his "Second Coming" were fulfilled by the visit to Joseph Smith. These visits were, really, in preparation for his Second Coming to the whole world. Christ will come again at the end of the world in great power and glory to rule on the earth for 1000 years. When he does return at that time, every knee shall bow and every togue confess that Jesus is the Christ. It appears to me that everyone will know when that Second Coming takes place. His appearance to the prophet Joseph in 1820 and at other times later (D&C 76, D&C 110) are not the same as the 2nd coming at the end of the world.
