My grandpa died 10 days ago, and I’m very sad. I ask myself where he is, in paradise or in spirit prison. He didn’t know the gospel and didn’t go to any church, but he did believe in God. Can somebody tell me where he is? I’ve never gone to the temple before. Can someone please explain things to me? I want to know where my grandpa is and if he is well. Thanks.

Hi friend. I'm very sorry to hear that your grandpa passed away recently. My grandpa passed away a few years ago, and it was a challenging experience for me too. I hope you find some spiritual peace during these hard times.
You shouldn't worry about your grandpa. He's in a good place where he can learn more about the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Many Christians believe that after death people go to heaven or hell. Because of this traditional belief, Mormon Christians sometimes make the mistake of thinking that Spirit Prison is a kind of hell. That idea is not true! Many wonderful people go to Spirit Prison simply because they never had the opportunity to learn about the true gospel of Jesus Christ. God would never send good people to a place of suffering. Spirit Prison is not a place of suffering.
Fortunately, your grandpa is probably now learning about the true gospel of Jesus Christ. When he's ready, he'll be able to enter paradise and prepare for the resurrection. He'll need the saving ordinances like baptism to continue his spiritual progress. You can help him by inviting one of your male relatives or one of the brothers in your congregation to represent him in the temple.
I hope this answer helps! Remember that God has a plan of happiness for your grandpa. You can help him by worshiping in the temple. God bless you during these hard times.
