Through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we can be freed from our sins.
Hi friend. I'm no expert on excommunication, but, as far as I know, rebaptism is always possible as long as repentance is sincere. Of course, repeated sin implies that previous repentance was not sincere. That might concern those whose Job it is to determine when one is prepared for rebaptism, perhaps leading to some concerns. It's definitely best to avoid sin in the first place. But forgiveness is always possible through the atonement of Jesus Christ.
It's certainly true that most sin is not the result of psychiatric illness. However, if you are struggling to overcome a particular sin, and if that sin is interfering with your day-to-day life, it might be helpful to chat with a medical professional in addition to your bishop. Pathological addiction/obsession/compulsion is not at the root of most sin, but every once in a while some sinners do benefit from medical treatment. Of course, I have no idea what you're struggling with and can't even begin to guess whether or not you are one of those rare people struggling with pathological challenges. Just thought I'd throw the idea out there in case it's helpful.
Best of luck to you. I know God will bless you as you work to follow His commandments.
