I have something of a difficulty. I am LDS, I am a bit less active than I would like. With all that said, my problem is with Heavenly Father. I have had something of a trying life from childhood til present. This trial I endured with dignity and hope things would get better. Presently I am having a problem with other at work. I prayed for peace for two years. It seems my prayers will not be answered in my favor. I find living a Christian life simple and easy. I don’t ask for many thing from God. In fact this is truely the only thing I’ve ask for with sincerity. Yet; why is he not answereing my prayer? It is somewhat disconcerting that he asks so much of us. But, is so distant when you ask something of him. How do I continue when you feel abondon?

Hi friend. Sometimes we ask God to change our life's circumstances when we should ask Him to change us so we can better deal with those circumstances. Facing challenges is one of the reasons God sent us to earth. He wants us to grow and learn.

Becoming more active in the church may be one way to change yourself so you can better deal with these challenges. Certainly going to church doesn't fix all of life's problems. Would it be wonderful if life was that simple? But regular church attendance helps us grow closer to God, and that can help us better deal with the challenges we face.

I've written an article that you might find helpful entitled "Are you an Inactive Member of the Church? Come Back!"

Best of luck to you! Let me know if there's anything more I can do to help.

I'm sorry to hear that your life has been hard for you. I have similar life scenarios that I didn't ask for, but they are here none the less. I take comfort in knowing that even in our trials and temptations Christ has overcome all things, and even suffers them with us. Also reading the scriptures we find, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." Also D&C 121 we read how Christ informs Joseph that his trials truly are only a small moment in the eternities of things, and if we endure them well God will exalt us on high. Perhaps what is going on in your life is God our Father who knows you, better then you know yourself, and knows that you are in fact strong enough to endure and overcome the trial/temptation you are experiencing. I've read how God, like many parents, gain knowledge from watching their children, and have a pretty good guess as to how each child will most likely react in certain situations. Parents today, I included, know what and how to guide my children into becoming the people I desire them to be. Why wouldn't God, an parent way beyond the knowledge of mortal standards who has known us for longer then a lifetime already, know perfectly how to test and guide his children to the perfection he wants us to obtain? We read how Abraham prepares to offers up his son isaac as sacrifice, God knew what and how Abraham was going to react to the trial/temptation, but did Abraham know how Abraham would react? Perhaps the trial you are going through is to bring to light just how wonderful a being you actually are, and make it known to yourself, for yourself. Yes the devils will come in and whisper lies in your ears and attempt to de-rail you from the course at hand, but as we've read above, God won't allow temptations or trials go beyond that which he knows you can handle. So instead of feeling down and discouraged, know that God is just perfecting you and revealing to you what a valiant spirit you were and are, through this life. One step at a time in the right direction and one day all the pain and hardships in this life will make sense to us. God bless, and we'll meet again some day when God will re-introduce us to each other and we'll share stories about how hard this life was; then rejoice together in Christ after he has saved us from it.

It is difficult to know for sure why we feel we do not receive answers to our prayers.

Sometimes, I believe our Heavenly Father wants us to try and solve the problem ourselves. Or perhaps, he is preparing you for some type of experience in your future. Or he may want you to develop patience. Or he may be testing your faith,

The important thing is to hang onto your testimony of the gospel and continue in strengthening your testimony. This is accomplished by attending your church meetings, and reading the scriptures and thru prayer.

It sounds as if you have been blessed in many ways, as you mention that you find living a Christian life comes easily to you. Thank Heavenly Father for your many blessings! All of them you can think of. This will strengthen your faith and testimony and you will find ways to solve your problems thru the guidance of our Heavenly Father and thru the Holy Ghost.

In short, try to focus on all the positive things in your life and the things that bother you so, may not seem so big and impossible. Focus also on helping others and your trials will seem smaller. God bless you for all your efforts.
