What happens when a couple is sealed and one spouse falls away and is ultimately excommunicated from the church? If the other spouse continues to live worthy of a temple recommend and remarries, can he or she be resealed to their new spouse?

In this case, a temple divorce is possible. You should speak with your bishop or branch president. Best of luck to you.

Temple Sealing Altar
A Mormon temple marriage altar. Mormons believe that, when married in the temple, a marriage can last forever, even beyond death.
When a couple is sealed in the temple, they make sacred vows. These vows stay in force as long as both individuals are faithful to the covenants and promises they make to each other and to God. If one spouse falls a way and is excommunicated and the other spouse continues to live worthy of a temple recommend, then yes he or she can be sealed to their new spouse. That only seems fair - and God is absolutely and completely fair.

If the excomunicated member stays away from the church and doesn't attempt to be reconciled to it, and their spouse, then yes the worthy temple spouse can find another partner, have their old sealing nullified, and be remarried in the temple again.
