Hi John. I'm sorry to hear about your recent loss. It's excellent that you are still feeling the Spirit. However, it would be very unusual if you did not also feel some sorrow. Even though we in the church know that we will see our friends and loved ones again one day, we still miss them in the here and now.
It's normal to feel sorrow in the months following a great loss. If this sorrow should persist for a longer amount of time, you may want to consider the possibility that a genuine depression has developed. Depression is a serious medical condition that warrants attention from a doctor. If you ever find yourself in that situation, please don't hesitate to seek out the medical help you need. God does not want any of his children to suffer needlessly.
Depression is an unusual medical condition in that it can have spiritual side effects. While your bishop is not qualified, necessarily, to give medical advice, if you should find yourself in a difficult place spiritually, I'm sure he would be willing to help you as well.
I hope this answer helps, and that you get to feeling better soon. I'll pray for you, brother.
