I am 16, and I am or was a christian. I have asked God to come into my life many, many times and every time I screw it up by falling away from God. This last time I feel as though I screwed it up terribly. I cursed God the Father, the Son, and even the Holy Spirit. I don’t know how I allowed myself to become so angered and lost. I’ve read that because I blasphemed the holy spirit I can never be forgiven. Is this true? After studying about “mormonism” I feel as though it has a lot to offer and I would like dearly to make ammends with God. Can I still repent or have I commited the unforgivable sin? What does the church of LDS teach on this subject?

I have no doubt that you can be forgiven for this! God has promised us that if we repent, which means to not only feel sorry for doing wrong but to turn away from the wrong completely, that He will forgive us our sins. "If we confess our sins, [Jesus Christ] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness" (1 John 1:8–9).

I believe if you sincerely go to Heavenly Father in prayer and confess that which you've done wrong and actively make an effort to not behave this way again you will be forgiven. You may make a mistake; you may accidentally or without thought curse the Lord again or take His name in vain. The key is to keep trying. You only fail when you quit trying to do what is right and good in God's eyes. He will help you if you ask Him. He will help to give you the strength to keep trying. I myself find it easy to get discouraged, too. But the only true failure is to quit trying to do what is right. Of course, committing sin with the thought that God will forgive us anything is wrong. He knows if we are truly sorry for what we've done and if we have really tried not to do wrong again.

Don't let Satan get you so discouraged that you turn away from your Heavenly Father. He loves you, and even though you hurt Him with what you said and the attitude you had, He will forgive you. He will be happy to forgive you and help you to be stronger.

I hope this helps. If you want more information on the subject, there are many sites to check up with. This one is a great start! I'll remember you in my prayers and hope this works out for you. Keep searching for the answers and you will find them. I promise you that, and so does the Lord. "Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened." 3 Nephi 14:7,8

God be with you!

No matter how many times you mess up JESUS will forgive your sins. HE is bigger than all your sins. The apostle Paul said "I do the things I don't want to do, and don't do the things I want to do". He will forgive as long as you repent - which means turn from your sin. You will never be perfect. Remember you cannot earn salvation. You cannot make amends with GOD. JESUS is the only way to GOD. JESUS' blood is the only thing that will cleanse you from unrighteousness. It has been said "The cross is the bridge to heaven." Get on your knees and pray; ask for forgiveness and then follow JESUS. JESUS will forgive your sins if you ask. 1 John 1:9 says "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Here is a list of some of the sinners GOD used:

Noah was a drunkard, Abraham was a liar, Moses was a murderer, David was an Adulterer and a murderer, Paul was a murderer.

JESUS loves you and wants you to be HIS.

The scripture I feel you are refering to is Matthew 12:31 which reads as follows:

"Wherefore I say unto you, all manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men."

The newer revelation concerning this law is as follows:

"The blasphemy against the Holy Ghost, which shall not be forgiven in the world nor out of the world, is in that ye commit murder wherein ye shed innocent blood, and assent unto my death, after ye have received my new and everlasting covenant, saith the Lord God; and he that abideth not this law can in nowise enter into my glory, but shall be damned, saith the Lord."

As I understand this it is someone that either over and over again chooses to and denies the Holy Ghost, or seeks out ways to destroy God's church. Also I've heard this explained as those that have had a spiritual witness from the Father through his Holy Spirit and know that they deny the Spirit, and this action over and over and over again! Joseph Smith explained it was as a man that says it is dark-night when it is noon-day over and over.

As per your little oops... people screw up all the time, and we say things at times in anger out of whatever reason we have, but that doesn't not mean all is lost. Satan, the father of lies, loves it when we screw up little things like this and beat ourselves up over it again and again. Misery loves company and he loves when we use our agency to make ourselves miserable like him.

The truth of the matter is, as Elder Packer has pointed out, "No sin is so great, no trangresion so vile, no rebellion so long that is exempt from a full and complete forgiveness through the atonement of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

Don't give up, don't damn youself, but forgive yourself, and move again forward in getting to know our Father, his Son, and their Holy Spirit. Believe in Jesus and talk with our Father and plead for forgivness for your young mistake then ask that through Christ's atonment to have asurance that there is a way again. You'll get you asurance if you ask with real intent.

Good luck little brother!

I honestly think you will be fine! As long as you show that you have a broken and contrite spirit the Lord will understand. If you go in with pure intent and actually mean well, all things will work together for your good. The LDS church is a wonderful thing! If I didn't have it in my life I have no idea what I would do. If you come to terms with what you have done and repent you should be fine. Just pray about it.

Anyone is forgiven, if they repent.

One thing you always need to remember is that God loves you-, no matter what. Satan wants you to think that you can not repent. He wants you to feel like you can't repent. He wants you to feel worthless. The best thing you can do right now is pray. God is there for you and is waiting for you to talk to Him. Just remember He loves you!

Sounds like you are well on your way to forgiveness. You sound truely broken hearted. I am in my forties, you have no idea how many times I have screwed up or how many times everyone screws up. If we didn't sin we wouldn't need the Saviour. Determine to stop what have you have been doing and pray. If it involves other people, like bad influences, make new friends. God bless.

I can make a guess that you are going through a very very difficult time in your life right now. God loves you will help you through it all, if you let him. Just keep praying, and asking him what you need to do to be forgiven. If you are still interested in our church, I strongly suggest speaking with one of our bishops. This man helps us LDS members find our what we need to do when we have committed a serious sin, but he will gladly help you or anyone else as well.
