I would like to know if I can go on a mission. I was baptized four months ago. I am 18 years old, and I’m the only one in my family who is a member. I just recently started to work and can’t pay tithing yet because I haven’t received a salary. I do help a lot in my church calling, though. Please let me know if I can serve a mission!
Hi Edith. Congratulations for your recent decision to join the church! I hope you find peace in your new life as a disciple of Jesus Christ. It really is wonderful to be a Mormon. :)
You certainly can be a missionary one day. Missionaries must be active members of the church for at least one year, so you're well on your way! I suggest you talk with your bishop about your plans. He can help you with the preparation process. I think it's just wonderful how many women are serving missions now that the age requirement has changed.
Just to clarify about tithing, if you haven't yet recieved any salary, you can't pay tithing. Tithing means "10%," and 10% of 0 is 0. So if you have no money, you are a full tithe payer even if you have paid nothing. :)
