If the Bible is so perfect and true, why do we have over 20,000 different Christian sects today each interpreting the Bible differently?

The Book of Mormon has been translated into many languages.
That's a good question... One of the key reasons that the LDS (Mormon) church has received other sacred books of scripture in addition to the Bible was so God could help address that very issue. God is not a God of confusion, so He brought forth other works through other true prophets of other time periods and lands in order to clarify what is in the Bible. These other books give light and knowledge to the world about the plan of salvation and Jesus Christ.

While the Bible is indeed the word of God, it isn't the ONLY word of God given to man, nor it is necessarily "perfect" in every way. If it were "perfect" then there wouldn't be so many opinions (or Christian sects) regarding what it means, right? While the Bible is a wonderful, powerful and sacred book of scripture, it also has missing components, miss-translations, different translations, and at times can be vague. Thus the ongoing confusion among men.

The Book of Mormon (another witness of Jesus Christ) is God's way to support and clarify, not detract from, the truth in the Bible. He wants to ultimately guide mankind toward a more full understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I hope this helps answer your question.

The Bible is true so far as it is translated correctly. Here is an example: In the Latin Vulgate version of the Bible, the word 'hell' appears 111 times, but in the King James version it appears 54 times. I know of 10 other translations of the Bible where the word 'hell' does not appear at all! If all were translated equally, shouldn't there be approximately the same number of appearances for this word?
