Will our physical body always be like it is now, or will it change in the resurrection? The truth is I don’t like how I look physically, and I hope I don’t have to spend eternity this way. Also, what does the church think about plastic surgery? At school, there’s a bully that picks on me because of my appearance, and boys never talk to me either. To tell you the truth, I’m pretty frustrated by the whole thing. That’s why want to know if my appearance will improve in the resurrection. Thanks for your answers.

Hi sister. I'm happy you posted your question here. The first thing you need to do is to learn to respect your own body. If there are things you can do to improve your health, you should do them. But, regardless of your appearance, your body is a miracle that God has given you. You're a child of God, and your self-worth is infinite in His eyes. He loves you so much, regardless of what you look like. In His eyes, you are among His most beautiful creations.

To my knowledge, the church doesn't have an official position on plastic surgery. In my opinion, reasonable forms of plastic surgery are acceptable, but you shouldn't change your appearance in hopes of improving your self-esteem. Plastic surgery does not solve all problems. You should first learn to respect yourself and to value yourself as a child of God. Once you understand your own worth, then you can consider plastic surgery, if you still think it's necessary.

In the resurrection, we'll all receive perfect, glorified bodies. We'll then be free of any health challenges, including health challenges that may adversely affect our appearance.

I hope this answer helps. Know that God loves you very much no matter what you look like. Do your best to live a healthy life, but recognize that your personal worth is not related to your appearance. Best of luck to you.

Alma 40:23 tell us that when we are resurrected our bodies will be in their "proper and perfect frame". Our bodies are the temples of our spirits and as such, we should strictly follow the Word of Wisdom and other guidelines set forth by the church to ensure that our own personal temple is in the best condition it can be in. There is no official church policy on plastic surgery.

It seems to me that the opinions of others are affecting your self-esteem. Rise above those who are giving you difficulties. Do not let them make you feel like you are less than you are. You are a daughter of God who loves you. This talk by Pres. Uchtdorf may help you. God bless.
