I need some help. I’m 22 years old and my girlfriend is mormon. We’ve been together for a year, and I’ve participated a lot in church activites with her and her family. In the beginning I was thinking about being baptized, but now I’m not so sure. I’ve always respected the law of chastity with my girlfriend, even though it’s been hard for me. She wants me to be baptized but I don’t want to be baptized just for her. I want to do it for myself and for Christ’s sake, but it would be wonderful if we could be married. Sometimes I feel a little bit of pressure to be baptized because I love her and want to be with her, but I’ve payed a lot and am still waiting for my answer from God. I’m a faithful member of another church, and I still go to that church often, but I’ve also learned a lot of wonderful things in the Mormon Church. They say I don’t have a testimony yet. Please council me with some scriptures or something. I’d be very grateful. May God bless you my friends.

Hi friend. I'm very happy to hear that you've already visited the church with your girlfriend. I also congratulate you on the respect you've shown her in your willingness to keep the law of chastity, even though it has been hard. That's a sign that you truly love and respect her.
I was also happy to hear that you're thinking about being baptized. You're right that you shouldn't be baptized just for your girlfriend. You should be baptized because God has touched your heart. God does not always answer our prayers immediately, but I know that if we're diligent, He will answer us. You shouldn't feel pressured to be baptized; the decision has to come from within you. God needs to touch your heart.
God has taught that, in order to receive an answer to our prayers, we should follow a two-step process. First, we must study; then, we should pray (D&C 9:8). Of course we can't rush God, but I suggest that you try studying even more. I imagine that you're already familiar with the Bible, so make a goal to read the Book of Mormon or the Doctrine and Covenants for 30 minutes every day. Try reading some of the scripture-study manuals that the church has produced. I also encourage you to attend institute, special classes for young adults to help strengthen their faith. Try to really immerse yourself in your study of the Gospel. Show your dedication, and in His own due time, God will answer your prayers.

Hi friend. Do you have a testimony? Do you know that God lives and that Jesus is his son? Do you accept that Joesph Smith saw what he says he saw and that God's kingdom has been restored to the earth? If not invite some missionaries over and discuss it with them. Be open to reading the Book of Mormon if you haven't already, and following the counsel to pray to see if it is true found in Moroni 10:3-5... Do all this and if you still feel you're not ready then follow your gut and tell the girl. If she is having problems with that ask her to pray for a similar answer to your situation.
The church is true, so I encourage you to take the steps to find out for yourself. That's what Joseph Smith did and look where it took him. God does answer prayers, he is your Father too, so ask and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be opened unto you, seek and ye shall find... Best of luck and God will guide you because you are His son, too.

Best of luck to you, friend. I'll pray for you.
