Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin has Died
by -Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, the oldest living apostle of the Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has died from complications related to old age.
Elder Wirthlin was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 11th, 1917. Before becoming a General Authority in 1975, Elder Wirthlin was a businessman who had played on the University of Utah football team in college. He served a Mormon mission to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland from 1936 to 1939, and was ordained an apostle in 1986.
Elder Wirthlin married Elisa Young Rogers in the Salt Lake Temple in 1941. Sister Wirthlin passed away in 2006.
He died with one of his eight children, daughter Jane Wirthlin Parker, at his side.
