Hi brothers and sisters. I’m a member of the church, and lately I’ve been feeling confused about which day is the correct Sabbath. I’ve been reading the Bible, which says that the day of rest is Saturday, the seventh day. Can you tell me why the Christian Sabbath is Sunday?
Hi sister. Part of your confusion stems from the Spanish language itself. In Spanish, both the 7th day of the week and the Hebrew word "shabbath" are "sabado." In English, for example, these words are not even the same. The 7th day is called "Saturday," and the Jewish word "shabbath" is "sabbath."
Those of us who are members of Christ's restored church can also look to living prophets for guidance. Modern prophets have taught us that Sunday can serve as the Lord's day (the "Christian Sabbath").
The truth is, God wants us to reserve one day a week to dedicate exclusively to Him. He doesn't care so much which day it is, as long as a community of believers comes together on this day to worship together. In most of the world, Mormons, like most Christians, use Sunday as this day.

Hi there! Before the death of Christ the Jews did (and still do today) celebrate the Sabbath on the seventh day of the week; in respect to Old Testament scripture - because God rested on the seventh day after the creation of the world. According to ancient tradition the seventh day of the week is Saturday. Since the followers of Christ during his earthly ministry were faithful Jews, they too followed this custom and observed the Sabbath on Saturdays.
After Christ's death on the cross, his followers gradually began to celebrate the Sabbath on Sundays in remembrance of His resurrection. As most other Christians, the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints still reserve the Sundays for worshipping God and renewing our covenants with Him.
But as the webmaster already stated: God commanded us to spend one day of the week serving and worshipping Him. He did not define an exclusive day of the week to do so. So both the Jewish and Christian traditions of celebrating the Sabbath on Saturday or Sunday respectively are in accordance with the Holy Scriptures.
I hope this helps.

To illustrate the webmaster's last point, I once heard a church leader tell the congregation that if one was shipwrecked on a desert island and didn't know what day it was, one should still observe the Sabbath. How? Pick the day one landed as day 1, and every seventh day observe it as the Sabbath.
The Bible has many verses that show the early Christians worshiped God on Sunday.
