What do Mormons believe happens to people who were not baptized on earth? Do Mormons believe that you can’t be baptized after death if your decendents are not Mormon (and give you the oppertunity to be baptized?) Also, what do you think about baptisms of people in other Christian denominations? Finally, do you believe that if you are not sealed, your family is not your family in Heaven? Thanks!

Baptism into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints requires full immersion in water by a person who holds the priesthood authority to baptize.
Mormons believe the teaching of Christ that baptism is essential to one day enter into the kingdom of heaven. Mormons perform baptisms in place of those who have passed on, and if they choose to accept and follow the Gospel, they are then able to receive any blessings requiring baptism. Thus, even those who never heard anything about Jesus Christ during their mortal lives can have the opportunity to receive the same joy and blessings as anyone else.
On the subject of baptisms in other faiths, we believe that any sincere effort to show faith in God is pleasing unto Him. However, baptism to be cleansed of our past sins and as a prerequisite for entering the kingdom of God can only be done by someone with proper authority. God is a God of order, and the scriptures teach "One Lord, one faith, one baptism" (Ephesians 4:5). The proper authority has come from God through His prophets and appointed servants (e.g., Apostles). Today it can be found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormon church). I know that this blessing truly is available in the Mormon church, as are the beautiful truths about our purpose, our past, and our future. The teachings and the ordinances like baptism that come through God's prophet and leaders in the Mormon Church have brought me more happiness than anything else.

Hi,
Those are all definetely good questions and i feel happy that the gospel of Jesus Christ can not only answer but give us a testimony in our hearts of those things.
Of course there are a lot of people that lived and will live the whole life on earth without the chance to be baptized. God is a God os justice and it wouldn't be fair for nobody to lose the chance of salvation for something they didnt know or they couldnt do. 1 Peter 4:6 shows that the Gospel is being preached in the spiritual world for those who did not have the chance to accept on earth. It doesnt matter if the family of someone who died are mormons or not... Everyone will have to have the chance to know and accept the gospel by themselves, or reject... no one will be saved without in ignorance.
Because of the Restoration of the Gospel, the Church of Jesus Christ is the organization on earth that has the priesthood... Baptisms cant be made without that authority... It wont be valid if it's not made with the right authority.
My characters are ending but the answer is yes... There's no organized families in the way we know on earth without the sealing on the temples.
Thank you,

Hello, in a response to your many questions, we believe that even if you were not baptized you can always go to heaven. If you die without being baptized there Is still a way of being baptized in a different sense called vicarious baptism. I will be doing that for my loved ones.
