Why don’t you accept alcohol if Jesus himself offered wine as a representation of his blood?

Also, I’m currently separated. I’m following Mormon standards and have a lot of family members who are Mormon, though they haven’t told me anything about the church yet. I have a son from a previous relationship. He’s already five years old, but I want to be a mother again, and I don’t know how to do it as a member of the church. How can I get married if I’m no longer a virgin? Thanks.

Hi friend. In fact, early in our church's history we did use wine to commemorate Christ's blood. However, in 1833, the first president and prophet of our church, Joseph Smith, received a message from God indicating that it is best to avoid wine because in our modern era alcohol can be very destructive. Consequently, we began using water to represent Christ's blood instead of wine.

It's excellent that you value motherhood. Motherhood truly is a sacred calling! Whenever possible, children should have both a mother and a father in their lives, and they are entitled to the familial stability that marriage brings. Consequently, it would be best to remarry before having another child.

It's not a sin to be intimate with your husband. The fact that you are no longer a virgin should not make any difference from the church's point of view. Sex outside of marriage is sinful, but within the bonds of matrimony sex should be celebrated. Of course you and your ex-husband were intimate. That's fine and even expected.

Since you have a son, I would like to mention that there are many benefits to raising a child in the church! It's important that children receive a religious foundation that will benefit them for their entire lives. There are classes in the church that are specifically designed to help children come to know Christ. I was raised in the LDS church. I'm an eyewitness to the many blessings that come from growing up Mormon.
