I’m getting to know the Mormon Church, and I want to be baptized. However, I don’t know if I can visit the church because I have three children and I’m not married. I have lived with the father of my children in the past, but he is now far away studying. I also use birth control. My question is, can I be baptized even though I use birth control?

The concept of a united family that lives and progresses forever is at the core of Latter-day Saint doctrine.
Hi friend. I'm happy that you want to be baptized! I've been a member of this church all my life. It's had such a positive impact on my life, both as a child and now as an adult. For example, the church has special religious classes for children to help them learn God's teachings. Adults benefit from a wonderful, supportive religious community that helps them build faith. I sincerely hope that the church can help you and your children as well.
Mormons are not opposed to the use of contraceptive medicine. We believe children are a great blessing from God, but it is up to the couple to decide the number and the timing. However, Mormons do believe that sexual relations should only occur within a legal and legitamte marriage. If you're not married to the father of your children, it's important to get married. Children deserve the stability of an integral family. Co-habitating couples, even if they love each other, do not provide the same stability a husband and wife can provide. God will bless your family as you strive to keep all his commandments. The decision to keep the commandments is an important preparation for baptism.
I know the father of your children is away studying right now, so you're not co-habitating with him at the moment. However, if you plan to come back together (and I hope you will, given that you have children together), then it's important that you marry first. With that understanding, I'm certain you could be baptized.
I hope this answer helps! Many people who are learning more about the church have questions. Please don't hesitate to post any of your questions here. I'm happy to help.
