Do Mormons encourage women to have children early so they can be “stay at home” Moms rather than work for payment to help w/husband’s salary and their budget expenses?

Hi friend. When I moved to California form Utah, I was quite surprised at how motherhood was looked down upon. Mormons don't have this kind of attitude. We see motherhood as a noble calling that is more important than any career. We honor mothers. Consequently, many Mormon women do choose to pursue motherhood as their primary "career."
The Church does not tell its members when to have children, nor does it seek to regulate the number of children a couple has. These issues are to be decided between the husband and wife. That having been said, Mormons do value family life, and we do love children. That love leads some Mormon couples to have large families.
Unfortunately, in our modern society it is often not possible for a family to survive on one spouse's income. In these situations, it is quite common for Mormon women to seek employment. I once read a study that demonstrated that Mormon and "non-Mormon" women work outside the home at about the same rate.

Not at all. In my local church there are many women with degrees/professional qualifications who (like myself) happily combine careers with caring for young children. Others choose to be full time mums, but that is a matter of choice. For everyone however, we recognise that having children is both the greater resposibility and the greater privilege. No matter how high-flying the career, the joy that comes from your family is incomparable. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints understands this and confirms that the family is the most important unit in the church. Perhaps you would like to visit Mormon.org or peak to a missionary for more information?
