I’m not sure where to start. When I was 18 or 19 years old I got to know the Mormons. This church was so special for me. It was exactly what I had been looking for all my life. The only problem is, I always really respected the Virgin Mary. I studied in a Catholic high school and even wanted to be a nun. I used to pray to Mary a lot, and it was hard to give up my rosary.

So many things happened after I stopped going to your church. I felt like the beauty in my life has vanished. Then, when I was 27 years old, the elders came back to my house. I was already married by this time. They gave us the discussions. I wanted something more in my life, so I decided to be baptized. I wanted to give my kids a better future.

Unfortunately, we moved, and I ended up becoming a less-active member of the church. I’m now 31 years old and have a daughter. I’d like to recover the faith I lost. Can you help?

Hi sister. I'm happy you posted your question here. It's apparent from reading your letter that you have a real desire to improve your spiritual life and to help your daughter come to know God. You've been away from the LDS church for a while, but you can always come back. There are many Mormon congregations in Lima. I am sure the ward or branch in your area would welcome you with open arms. Most importantly, God will be pleased with the course of your life.

While it is true that Mormons do not pray to or worship Mary, for us she is a very sacred person who should be respected and emulated. You should not abandon your love for Mary because of your faith in Christ's restored gospel.

Sister, I suggest you contact your local bishop or branch president. I'm certain he'll be happy to help you come back to the church. The missionaries can also help you. Why don't you request a missionary visit?

I hope this answer helps! Best of luck to you.
