Hi friend. Mormon belief is strongly centered on the biblical concept of "covenants," or promises with God. Essentially, God makes certain conditional promises with His children, and they in turn promise certain things to God. These promises are generally accompanied by sacred ordinances, or ceremonies. These ceremonies must be performed by those who have authority given from God. The story of Abraham in the bible provides a good example of the covenant-making process.
The covenants associated with eternal families include, among others, the endowment and sealing ordinances. The promises associated with these covenants include:
1. Dedicating ones life to God.
2. Reserving physically intimacy for ones spouse.
3. Being charitable, benevolent, tolerant, and morally pure.
