Hi. I’m sorry to say that since I posted here a few months ago, that I have lost faith in God, because he doesn’t answer my prayers after 5 years of trying every day. I’ve lost all hope, and can’t think why this is. Also, after having a few chats with the missionaries made me question it even more, as I simply did not believe their words. Hope you all understand why I’ve done this.

Hi Cameron. I'm happy you posted this follow-up question. Perhaps you're looking for reasons not to believe, in which case there isn't much I can say to convince you. However, if you are really interested in finding faith, perhaps you'll find the following helpful.

We can't expect God to answer our prayers when we are not doing our part. God does not typically just drop answers into our laps. Spiritual communication with God often requires a lot of hard work. Are you doing anything more than just praying, essentially expecting God to do all the work? Are you reading the scriptures? Are you pondering? Have you tried fasting? Importantly, are you going to church regularly to feel God's spirit and see how Mormons worship? Have you invited the missionaries into your home to hold serious, extended conversations, or are you just chatting with them on the internet? You say you "simply did not believe [the missionaries] words," but have you really studied those words and asked God if they are true, or are you just going with your gut, so to speak?

If you want to get an answer from God, you need to be very proactive. You need to get yourself to Church every week for a few months to see what happens.

I hope this answer helps.
