I am Catholic with really no interest in converting to Mormon. My boyfriend of 3 1/2 years is mormon though and we are very serious and hope one day to be married. My question is, if we do make it to marriage, what will it be like? Like ceremony wise? Since we’re both different religions I know that catholics aren’t able to get married in the Church unless they were confirmed (which I am not) and the other person is catholic. But I would just like to know the options of ceremony or if I have to convert…

The San Diego temple in San Diego, California.
Hi friend. There are two types of marriage in LDS culture. Most practicing Mormons want to be "sealed" in a Mormon temple because these kinds of marriages are believed to last forever, even after death. Temple worship requires a lot of preparation, however, including full church participation.
Secular marriage, or "marriage for time," typically takes place in Mormon chapels, which are open to anyone. These kind of marriages are thought to last "till death do us part." Typically the ceremony is performed by an LDS bishop.
Interfaith couples, of course, do face some unique challenges. Consequently, like the Catholic church, the LDS church also discourages its members from marrying those of other faiths. You may be interested in an article I recently wrote about this very topic.

Best of luck to you.
