I am a concerned person. Do you give cash to members who are in need and refund later or are there some qualifications. Am about to join the church but am jobless, shelterless and am really suffering

Hi friend. I happy you've made the decision to join the LDS Church. I've never regretted my membership, and I've been a member all my life. The gospel has brought me great spiritual peace. I've also found a lot of fulfillment in serving God and my fellow man through church callings and projects. I know the gospel of Jesus Christ can bring you similar blessings, and I congratulate you for your interest.

Helping the less fortunate is one of the Church's main goals. In places where the Church is well established, there are food banks called "Bishops' Storehouses" where the needy can get food. LDS Employment Resource Services also help both Mormons and those of other faiths who are currently unemployed to find a job. Church members also donate "fast offerings" to help the poor in their neighborhoods. The Church is somewhat new in Kenya, and I don't know much about the financial resources of your local congregation, but I suspect some of these programs, or similar programs, have already been implemented in your area. I suggest you talk to your local bishop or branch president. The missionaries you're meeting with should be able to put you in touch with him.

I hope your financial luck improves, friend. More importantly, I hope you find spiritual peace as a new disciple of Jesus Christ and a member of His restored church.
