Hi friend. I'm sorry to hear that your father is having health problems. Mormons very much favor modern medicine, so I encourage your father to get the proper medical attention he needs.

Beyond medicine, Mormons also put a lot of faith in prayer and fasting. Additionally, we have a special ordinance, called a priesthood blessing, where authorized members of our church visit the sick and give them a special blessing. The outcome of the blessing depends on the will of God, of course. If it's God's will that the sick person depart this life, perhaps God will offer comfort through the blessing instead of healing. On the other hand, sometimes healing does come. I've seen many people's lives blessed through priesthood blessings.

If you're interested in receiving a priesthood blessing for your father, I suggest you contact your local mormon bishop. Alternatively, perhaps the Mormon missionaries could help you.

God bless you during these challenging times, friend. I know it can be very difficult when a loved one falls ill.

Therefore, there is a time appointed unto men that they shall rise from the dead; and there is a space between the time of death and the resurrection. And now, concerning this space of time, what becometh of the souls of men is the thing which I have inquired diligently of the Lord to know; and this is the thing of which I do know.

Now, concerning the state of the soul between death and the resurrection—behold, it has been made known unto me by an angel, that the spirits of all men, as soon as they are departed from this mortal body, yea, the spirits of all men... Are taken home to that God who gave them life.

And then shall it come to pass, that the spirits of those who are righteous are received into a state of happiness, which is called paradise, a state of rest, a state of peace, where they shall rest from all their troubles and from all care, and sorrow.
