I have a question about burning in the bosom in the Doctrine and Covenants secion 9 verse 7 thru 9. Does this verse only apply to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? I’ve known non members by experience who have also had he burning of the bosom in their life particularly born again Christians. My mother was converted a Roman Catholic and when the priest confirmed her by laying hands on her my mother felt warm inside her heart.

Hi John. There are many ways to feel God's spirit, and a burning in the bosom certainly is one of them. Members of other churches, who are also among God's children, are certainly entitled to feel His Spirit. For example, the Spirit often moves those who don't belong to the LDS Church to seek out the missionaries and to learn more about our doctrine. That's how my wife came to join our faith. I suspect you yourself have a similar story.
Beyond that, though, there's a lot of truth and good in other faiths as well. The spirit of God will testify of truth no matter where it's found.
In the LDS faith, we can receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands. This is a priesthood ordinance that allows the Holy Ghost to be our constant companion. Though this ordinance is only available in Christ's restored church, we shouldn't think that those of other faiths can't feel the Holy Ghost at all. God call influence all of His children through His Holy Spirit.
