When I was a teenager I feel in love with a guy and left the church because I got pregnant. I suffered a lot because I lived in sin with him for so long. Today I’m no longer with him. I’m a single mother, and I want you to help me know what I need to do to recover my spiritual peace and to gain forgiveness for my sins. I want to feel clean in God’s eyes again. Thanks for your help.

Hi friend. Thanks for your message. I've received emails from so many people over the course of the past few years who are seeking spiritual peace. The miracle of the gospel is that anyone can find that peace, even those of us (all of us, really) who have made mistakes. Jesus Christ doesn't care who we are or what we've done; He wants all of us to come back to Him, to repent of our sins, and to enjoy once again His divine influence in our lives. He knows you personally, and I'm certain that He's happy with your desire to improve your spiritual life.
To recover your spiritual peace, you should return to the Church and become an active member once again. Be sure to bring your children with you so they can grow up knowing Jesus Christ; there's no greater gift that a mother can give to her child than that. You can learn the address and the meeting time of the chapel nearest your house online. I also encourage you to request a visit from the Mormon missionaries. They'll offer you the support and spiritual strength you need to return to the Church.
Once you come back to the Church, ask for an interview with your bishop or branch president. You'll then have the opportunity to confess your sins so that you can begin the repentance process. Your bishop or branch president will help you make goals that will lead to your spiritual recovery.
May God bless you on this important spiritual journey, sister! Remember the beautiful words of Isaiah: "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool."
