Hi! I’m a Catholic and my fiancé is Mormon. We’ve been together for six years and are thinking about getting married. He wants to be sealed in the temple and I want to be married in my church. We’ve tried to find a solution so that we can get married without one of us having to give up our dream, but we haven’t been able to find one. I love him a lot, so I’ve decided I’d like to learn more about your religion with the possibility of one day joining so I can be sealed in the temple as my husband wishes. I look forward to your opinions. I will definitely take them under consideration.

Hi friend. Congratulations on your decision to get married! Marriage can bring so many blessings. I can tell that you and your fiancé love each other very much, and that's a great way to start a marriage!
It would be a mistake to join the church for mere social convenience, even for something as important as marriage. I'm not saying that you shouldn't join the church--I think you should--but be sure to join for the right reasons. One should only become a member of the LDS Church when they have a sincere change of heart, truly want to begin a new life as a disciple of Jesus Christ, and recognize the importance of the apostolic authority had only in the restored church of Jesus Christ.
I'm sure you've learned many true principles in the Catholic Church. We Mormons have a great respect for our Catholic brothers and sisters, as we have worked together with them on many humanitarian and social projects. Your goal as a new member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints should not be to forget the many true things you learned as a Catholic. Rather, you should strive to keep the true principles you learned as a Catholic and to add to those principles the truths that are unique to Christ's restored church.

To be truly converted, I suggest that you begin by meeting with the Mormon missionaries. They can describe the basic doctrines of the church and answer any questions you might have. I assume that you already believe in the Holy Bible. That's an excellent start. The missionaries will certainly also ask you to read from the Book of Mormon as well. They'll ask you to ponder the words of this additional book of scripture. After reading and pondering, I invite you to pray to God to ask Him to show you the truth of these things. In His own due time, He will touch your heart if you're persistent in asking for His guidance. As you grow more familiar with the church through regular attendance, that answer will come even easier.
