Hi. I’ve been receiving missionary visits, and I’ve gone to your temple several times. I really love being there. It gives my family and me peace and tranquility. I do have one doubt, though. I’m pregnant and I’m going to be a single mother. I’m interested in being baptized and becoming part of the church, but a lot of people have told me that this church is just a fraud, etc. They tell me that I won’t be accepted because of my situation and that Mormons have “closed minds” and will judge me. The people I’ve met at church all seem very nice, but I don’t want to be judged because of my situation. I admit that I made a mistake, but I don’t want to feel out of place. I want to know if it’s true that Mormons are very judgmental? Can I still be part of the church, even given my situation? Thanks for your answers.

Hi friend. I'm very happy that you've been coming to my church, that you've enjoyed your visits, and that you've felt the peace of God's spirit there. Being a member of the Church has been so wonderful for me. I'm very happy to be a Mormon. :)
It's unfortunate that some of the people you know have been misinformed about the church. If I listened to every bit of unsolicited advice I receive, I wouldn't have any of the things in my life that I most value. As I'm sure you know, it's much better to find out about the church for yourself than to believe in the silly rumors some people sometimes propagate. You've visited the church yourself, so you know personally what Mormons are like. You are already becoming a Mormon expert. :)
As you said, the choices that led you to have a child out of wedlock were mistakes, but your child is not herself a mistake! On the contrary, the child growing inside you is a choice daughter of God, and God has chosen you to be that child's earthly mother. Part of your responsibility as a mother will be to help your child know God, to care for your child's spiritual development. I can think of no better place to nurture a child spiritually than in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The church provides classes for children to help them learn about the Savior. It also provides classes for parents to give them the knowledge and support they need to raise spiritually healthy children. I grew up in the church, and the support system the church provided has made a big difference in my life. I'm sure it could bless the life of your child, as well as your own life, in the same way.
Without a doubt, your Mormon congregation will be very happy if you choose to join! It's always a great blessing when someone decides to join the Church. I'm sure you'll be well accepted and that the church will be a blessing for you and your family if you truly dedicate yourselves to God. God bless you, friend!
