I’m about to enlist in the airforce but I rather recently stumbled upon the church. Do the two conflict or can I belong to both?

A sermon preached by the late President Gordon B. Hinckley about war.
Hi Katelyn. I'm very happy to hear that you recently became interested in the church! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has helped me grow closer to my Savior, and I'm very grateful for the spiritual peace and stability it's brought me. I pray that you'll find the same blessings as you embark on your new spiritual journey.

The vast majority of people who join the armed services do so because they want to serve their country and protect freedom. These are very noble motives that are completely compatible with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Both the Bible and the Book of Mormon provide us with examples of good people who defended their country in times of conflict. We should never be bloodthirsty under any circumstances, but there are cases in the context of war where life, liberty, freedom, and national safety must be defended.

You may be interested to know that several members of the church have held prominent positions in the United States Armed Forces. Best of luck to you.
