Hi. I’m from cochabamba-bolivia and I’m very interested in learning more about your church. I’m Christian, but I haven’t been very close to God lately. Now my family is going through a difficult situation. I feel like there’s a spiritual emptiness that I need to fill by getting closer to God and his teachings. Thanks before hand for your help.

Hi friend. I'm very happy to hear that you're interested in learning more about my church! It's always exciting to meet people who are sincerely looking for the truth.

You mentioned that you're a Christian; that's something that we have in common. The official name of the "Mormon Church" is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Though Mormons are not Catholic or Protestant, we are also Christians. I'm sure you'll find that, as a Christian, you'll already be familiar with most of our beliefs.

It was interesting for me to read about your description of a "spiritual emptiness." So many people in our modern world are not concerned with their spiritual health. They think they can live their lives without God and still find fulfillment. Certainly many people who live without God do wonderful things, but there's always an emptiness in every human heart that can only be filled when they let God into their lives. You're clearly someone who loves God, and you're seeking to feel God's love more fully in your heart. That's excellent.

Your story reminds me of the story of Joseph Smith, one of the first leaders of our church. He also felt an emptiness in his heart and so decided to search for God. He visited many churches and noticed that they taught many good things about Jesus Christ. However, their doctrines often disagreed with each other. Joseph Smith wanted to worship God in the correct way, but he wasn't sure which of the many churches was correct. Eventually, Jesus Christ restored His ancient church in our modern days through Joseph Smith, thanks to Joseph's sincere search for the truth.

I think you're like Joseph Smith. You feel the same emptiness that he felt, and you're looking for the same truth that he looked for. I can testify from my own personal experience, that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Christ's restored church, has helped to fill the emptiness in my soul with the love of God. I know that it can help you too.

You mentioned that your family is also passing through hard spiritual times. As you may know, the "Mormon Church" places great emphasis on the spiritual development of families. I know that my own family has been spiritually strengthened. I have no doubt that the Church could help your family too.

I encourage you to meet with Mormon missionaries, who can teach you more about the Gospel. You can request a visit from the missionaries online. I also invite you to visit the Mormon chapel nearest your home to worship with us. We love to have visitors. You can find the address of the chapel nearest your home, as well as the time of our worship services, online as well.

If you do decide to join the church one day, I recently wrote an article, entitled "How can I Join the Church?" that might help you. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to send them. I'd love to help in any way I can.
