This evening, my wife and I are inviting for dinner, in our home, and in Christmas season, to a dear close work partner. We are Catholics and he is Mormon. However, it is the first time we invite him and we are not sure how to behave properly. Apart from the evident topic of not drinking alcohol, is there any particular detail we should be aware of? Is there any brief prayer (for instance when starting the meal that could be said?) Thank you very much.

Hi Miguel,
I apologize for not answering your question in time for the holiday season! I hope you had an enjoyable time with your Mormon friend. I can tell you are an extremely considerate person. I for one would love to have a friend just like you. ;)
You are right that Mormons don't drink alcohol. We also don't drink coffee or black tea, or use any form of tobacco. We definitely understand that not everyone knows about our cultural practices, though. When someone offers us alcohol, coffee, or tea, we usually just decline politely with the understanding that no offense was intended.
There are many similarities between Catholicism and Mormonism, and Mormons are generally taught to respect the beliefs and practices of others. I'm sure your Mormon friend would enjoy hearing a Catholic blessing on the food. If you ever want to ask him to bless the food, I'm sure he'd be honored to do so as well, but it's not necessary.
Feel free to ask me any other questions you might have. I'm sure your friend would also be happy to answer any questions. Mormons generally like talking about their faith. I hope you have a good new year!
